CANCELLEDWith the declaration of a National Emergency by the President, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has asked event organizers to cancel or postpone gatherings of 50 or more people. The organizers of the Family Fun Ride have made the difficult decision to cancel the trail ride scheduled for April 18, 2020. We know that dirt riders are an independent-minded bunch and can assess the risk in a situation. We do it every time we swing a leg over the machine to go for a ride. We would rather "press on regardless" because that's how we learned to do it wrestling a bike through the woods. But we also see it from the other side. FOCUS & Fragile Kids serves families with children who are medically fragile or have special needs. We make this sacrifice to do our part to try to contain this virus and keep it from entering a home with one of those fragile children. Because we don't know how long it will take for the virus containment to be successful, we cannot reschedule the ride now. For now, we are going to keep our other ride event, the Blue Ridge 250, on the schedule for October 3. Because of the cancellation of the Family Fun Ride and another scheduled fundraiser, FOCUS & Fragile Kids has suffered a significant loss of expected donations. We urge you to go to their web site and donate the amount you would have donated at the ride. In the comments, say it's for the Family Fun Ride. Thank you for your support. |
